We are Ercan, Amara, Malik, and Leila — four souls who took different roads through life, only to meet at the same intersection: the pursuit of meaning through truth, reflection, and honest storytelling.

Though we come from different corners of the world — Denmark, Canada, France, and Turkey — we found each other not by chance, but through a shared resistance to living life on autopilot. Burnout, loss, disillusionment, and the quiet pull of the open road brought each of us to our knees — and somehow, to one another.

“We don’t write to impress. We write to understand.”

What began as a series of late-night voice messages between strangers has now evolved into a space where we explore life’s undercurrents together. To notice the quiet things. To make sense of what hurts. And to remind each other — and you — that healing, clarity, and change often begin with a single honest sentence, whether it’s found in stillness or in the next flight out.

Meet the Writers

Four people, four very different roads. Here’s who’s behind the stories on this site.

Ercan Evcimen
Istanbul

Ercan Evcimen New writer

Performance Marketing Manager
Current locationIstanbul, Turkey
NationalityTurkish

Ercan spends his days shaping brands’ digital growth as a performance marketing manager, and his evenings somewhere between a guitar and a camera. Photography pulls him outdoors chasing the kind of light that turns an ordinary street into a story, and whenever his full-time job allows, he packs light and takes off — treating every trip as a small escape from routine and a chance to see something new. He’s currently based in Istanbul, splitting his time between campaigns, chords, and the next place on his list.

Amara Jensen
Cape
Town

Amara Jensen

Environmental Journalist & Minimalist Travel Blogger
Current locationCape Town, South Africa
NationalityDanish-American

Amara grew up between Copenhagen and Portland, raised by a Danish mother and an American father who was a marine biologist. After years at a large media company in Copenhagen, she hit severe creative burnout and felt she’d drifted from her values. In 2019 she sold most of her belongings and began slow-travelling through eco-villages and permaculture communities across Europe and Africa. A stay at an off-grid cabin in the Drakensberg Mountains brought her back to writing — not for deadlines, but for truth. She believes change begins in the small moments: refusing plastic, learning the name of a tree, choosing silence.

Malik Thompson
Osaka

Malik Thompson

Software Engineer
Current locationOsaka, Japan
NationalityCanadian (Toronto)

Malik was a gifted programmer who landed a dream job at a fast-growing startup at 23. But the long hours, dopamine loops, and lack of meaning left him anxious and disconnected. After a panic attack in a subway station, he took a leave of absence and never went back. He moved to Japan on a working holiday visa, began teaching English, and started reading obsessively about attention, neuroplasticity, and overstimulation. His blog started as a digital-detox diary; it’s now a widely followed podcast where he experiments on himself and reports the results. He believes the most radical act today is reclaiming control over one’s attention.

Leila Moreau
Marseille

Leila Moreau

Grief Counselor & Memoir Writer
Current locationMarseille, France
NationalityFrench-Moroccan

Leila had a quiet literary life — translating poetry, working in publishing, journaling in cafés. When her partner, Hugo, died in a cycling accident, she was shattered, and withdrew to her grandmother’s coastal house in Tangier. In stillness and sorrow, she began writing letters she never sent. Those letters became blog posts, and people began to write back — grief became dialogue. She now supports others through their own loss with writing workshops and personal essays. She believes there is sacredness in pain, and that writing is a soft torch in the dark.
